Though he recently reprised his role as Rocky Balboa in Creed, Sylvester Stallone says he will never play Rambo again.
In an interview with Variety, the 69-year-old actor revealed that he's retiring the character once and for all due to his age.
“The heart’s willing, but the body says, ‘Stay home!,’” he said. “It’s like fighters that go back for one last round and get clobbered. Leave it to someone else.”
Stallone also explained that he was happy with where the recent fourth film left off and realized that there was nothing more to do with the character. When asked to be in another one, he said, "If I can't do better than I did last time, and I can't, then why?"
That means that Fox will be moving forward with their Rambo TV series without Stallone. Instead, the new show is expected to follow Rambo's son rather than having another actor replace Stallone.
The Rambo film series began with First Blood in 1982, and what is now the final installment was released in 2008.
