Paul McCartney had some extra time on his hands recently, so he decided to record some music for Skype. Yes, you read that right. McCartney recorded music for the video chat app for their Valentine’s Day emojis.

McCartney and Skype posted a video of the former Beatle explaining that Skype approached him to add some musical accompaniment to 10 animated “love mojis” that you can use on Valentine’s Day.

“I hope that people will use them, sending messages of love, etc... sending all their emotions with emojis and with my music attached to them,” McCartney said. “So, I hope you like them and check them out!”

A second video also shows McCartney jamming in his studio in Sussex, recording instrumental tracks to go with each emoji. McCartney used guitars, keyboards, drums and even a xylophone.

“As one of the most iconic artists of all time, Paul McCartney is known for expressing his passion through music,” Skype vice president Gurdeep Pall said. “When it comes to composing love songs there is no other artist in the world who has a better track record. Paul’s music has touched the hearts of millions of people all over the world. We are thrilled to lend some of his magic to a set of Mojis conveying the world’s most powerful emotion, love, through music and art. It was a great creative challenge for us to create the animations to match his legendary sound.”

Sir Paul’s most recent album is 2013’s NEW.
