After he finishes up his work with Batman and Superman, director Zack Snyder says he hopes to make a movie about another kind of hero.
In an interview with Bloomberg Business, the Batman v. Superman director said for one of his upcoming projects, he wants to direct a film about George Washington, and it would look a lot like one of his older projects, 300. Snyder evidently has a picture in his office of Washington crossing the Delaware, and that image would be part of his inspiration.
“We were talking about it,” Snyder says. “The first thing we asked was, well, how are we going to make it look? I pointed at this painting. It looks like 300. It’s not that hard.”
We've seen a lot of movies about Washington and the Revolutionary War, but never has there been one that approaches it like an adventure epic in the way that Snyder approaches his movies. 300 is notable for its heavy use of slow motion and stylized action, so applying that to the story of Washington could be fascinating.
That would be a few years away, though, as Snyder first has to direct Justice League for Warner Bros. That film, divided up into two parts, will be released in 2017 and then 2019. It will begin production on April 11, as we previously reported.
