As if the act of going back to school isn’t stressful enough …

Back-to-school snack time can add additional stress for both kids and their parents. Even grown-up kids entering college may have some trouble deciding on what they should keep on hand for snacks. It is usually a time of transition combined with tradition.  Snack time can be daunting.  There are so many choices, but we often find ourselves going to the market and not knowing what all is out there and what we should try that will make both parent and child happy. What are some new items we should try to complement some old favorites?

What goes well into a child’s lunchbox?  What about afternoon snacks?  What about frozen treats? And where do new and interesting snacks for college students or adults fit in?

Now there are some items we really like, but unless they capture our eye, we forget about them when we are making our shopping lists.

There is something for everyone here and it is a judgement free list as every family, college student and child is a little different when it comes to snack time, and all adults can empower themselves to properly read labels and make the appropriate decision for themselves and for their families.

Some items here are very healthy.  Others are not and are meant to be enjoyed as a sometime treat.  We have organic, vegan, gluten-free, non-GMO, non-common allergen, nut, no nut, classic and new options.  Some of the organic food is high in sugar. Sometimes a vegan option will be high in fat.  Sometimes there is an item with gluten that is delicious and good for you. There are beverages, crackers, cookies, power bars, cereals, meat and cheese, candy, granola, trail mixes and the difficult to-describe.  There are also offerings of baked vegetables, fried vegetables, and servings of veggies hidden in plain sight to help give a child more nutrients in their snacks. There is fruit in many ways—freeze dried, baked, canned, preserved and dehydrated. Multiple options prevail.

Some of these items are very pricey, while others are more reasonable.  Cost will not be listed in here, but it is safe to glean that the more exclusive the ingredients—organic, vegan, gluten-free, non-GMO, small batch items, the more expensive they will be.

In order to be featured in the TheCelebrityCafe.com, the items needed to taste good and be convenient. Some of these items are brand new, while others have been around for a while and are worth a second look.

Happy snacking!
