Labor Day weekend was pretty quiet at the box office as Don’t Breathe was able to easily retain the top spot. It grossed $15.7 million to raise its domestic gross to over $50 million. Suicide Squad repeated at second place with $10 million and is closing in on $300 million domestically. I still think it will pass Batman v. Superman for overall domestic gross.

Pete’s Dragon took third place with $6.5 million and Kubo and the Two Strings came in fourth place with $6.5 million. Sausage Party rounds out the top five with $5.3 million and is closing in on $90 million domestically. I predict this film will pass $100 million domestically.

One of the new releases The Light Between Oceans came in sixth place with a very disappointing $4.9 million. The film couldn’t find much of an audience and will probably fall out of the top ten. The other new release Morgan really failed to find an audience after only grossing $1.9 million. It came in 17th place this weekend and this is the seventh worst opening for a film opening in over 2,000 theaters reports Box Office Mojo.

Bad Moms brought in $4.7 million to pass $100 million domestically in a very impressive box office run. Jason Bourne passed $155 million after 38 days in theaters and Star Trek Beyond passed $154 million after 45 days.
