James Cameron and Fox have finally set the release dates for the four “Avatar” sequels. Again.
Originally “Avatar 2” was set to come out in 2014, only five years after the first film in the saga blew the minds of audiences around the world. But then the date was pushed back to 2015. And then again to 2017.

And now finally we have confirmation on the actual release dates of the next four Avatar films (hopefully).
On Saturday, April 22, the Avatar Facebook page posted an image of Cameron and a large production crew. The caption read “Avatar takes flight as we begin concurrent production on four sequels. The journey continues December 18, 2020, December 17, 2021, December 20, 2024, and December 19, 2025.”
So there you have it. The next four Avatar films will be coming out during the Christmas movie rush starting eleven years after the first film was released.
In an interview with Variety, Cameron said, “We have decided to embark on a truly massive cinematic project, making four epic films, each of which stands alone but together forms a complete saga.”
No further details on the plots of the films have been released yet.
