The Fate of the Furious became the second film of 2017 to have a domestic opening weekend of over $100 million. The film brought in $100.2 million domestically and also made headlines for its international and worldwide performance.

The film brought in $432.3 million from the international markets, which beat out the $316.7 million brought in by 2015’s Jurassic World. When you combine the domestic and international gross the film brought in $532.5 million worldwide, which sets a new record beating out the $529 million set by Star Wars: The Force Awakens back in 2015 reports Box Office Mojo.

The Boss Baby fell to second place after a 41 percent drop during its third weekend with $15.5 million and is closing in on $120 million domestically.

Beauty and the Beast came in third place with $13.6 million and stands at $454.6 million domestically after 31 days. Beauty and the Beast also became the 22nd largest worldwide release ever this weekend.

Smurfs: The Lost Village dropped over 50 percent and finished in fourth place with $6.5 million. Going in Style rounded out the top five with $6.3 million.

Gifted expanded to wide release and finished in sixth place with $3 million. The film will continue to expand to more theaters next weekend. Get Out still remains in the top 10 coming in seventh place with $2.9 million and is closing in on $170 million domestically.

Power Rangers slides down two spots to eighth with $2.8 million. I have doubts that the film will cross $100 million domestically. The Case for Christ comes in ninth place with $2.7 million and Kong: Skull Island rounds out the top ten with $2.6 million and has passed $160 million domestically.

The box office top 10 should look very different next weekend as we have five new wide releases coming out. I still believe The Fate of the Furious has a strong chance of repeating as box office champion.
