The farewell tour to end all farewell tours.
The Bellas are reuniting one last time in the newest trailer for Pitch Perfect 3, which has just dropped online.
Having all now graduated from college, the a cappella group known as the Bellas are struggling to get by. They’re all working odd jobs trying to pay rent and probably haven’t stayed in as close of touch as they all promised on graduation night.
But this trailer finds the Bellas getting a final shot to live out their dreams — a chance to perform overseas in some sort of singing competition, one last time. Only this time, they’re going up against real band who play real instruments.
After the incredible financial success of Pitch Perfect 2 — which was released on May 15, 2015 and made over $184 million at the box office — a Pitch Perfect 3 was inevitable. However, the trailer feels very much in line with the previous two films and should get fans about the franchise excited.
We get some new plot details in this trailer — Beca (played by the gorgeous and lovely and perfect Anna Kendrick) apparently will be receiving an offer with a record label, but for her and her alone. Will she take it and leave her musical companions in the dust, or will the power of friendship overcome all? The drama is only beginning to unfold.
We also get a better look at the bands they’re going up against - a country band, a hip-hop group and, seemingly their main competition, one that’s being run by Ruby Rose (John Wick: Chapter 2, Orange is the New Black).
And, of course, no Pitch Perfect trailer would be complete without various a cappella pop songs - as we hear everything from “Ignition Remix” by R. Kelly to “Wake Me Up” by Avicii.
Pitch Perfect 3 is coming out on Dec. 22, 2017 and stars Anna Kendrick, Hailee Steinfeld (Edge of Seventeen), Elizabeth Banks, Rebel Wilson, John Lithgow, Anna Camp and Brittany Snow. The film is not being directed by Banks this go-around, but instead by Trish Sie.
