Returning series 'Savage Kingdom: Uprising' brings life and death drama to Nat Geo WILD

Savage Kingdom: Uprising is not for the faint of heart, but nothing truly wild ever is. Watching lions battle each other for survival and dominance is a spectacular sight to behold.

Last year, when Nat Geo WILD launched the original miniseries Savage Kingdom, an unvarnished telling of survival on the African plains, critics called the drama “Shakespearean.” When the sequel emerges as the first of a four-part miniseries on Friday, Nov. 24 on Nat Geo WILD people will be entranced by the savage beauty of the imagery, as well as compelling storytelling.

“When we introduced the world to the Savage Kingdom last year, it was our version of a real-life Game of Thrones that pushed serialized dramatic storytelling in this genre to the next level,” said Geoff Daniels, executive vice president and general manager, Nat Geo WILD. “No spoilers, but rest assured the new season is as visually stunning, intimate and intense as anything we have ever done.”

The narration is brought to life by the regal Charles Dance, most well-known for his role as Tywin Lannister on Game of Thrones.

These animals do not seek a peaceful existence, even though they are often part of the same family. They are in a constant state of battle and some will die. The question is which one will be on top? And how ruthless can these lions get? Well, if you saw the first season, you know. If not, you need to binge it before Friday.

The final episode of Savage Kingdom: Uprising airs on Sunday, Dec. 10, which is perfect as it coincides with the beginning of Nat Geo WILD’s Big Cat Week. This will be awesome as there will be specials devoted to lions, jaguars, cheetahs, lions and of course the ever popular tiger.
