As K-Pop band 100% was ramping up a comeback presence, they have met with an untimely loss, as they and the world of K-Pop mourn the death of another star. Seo Minwoo from 100% died at 33 on March 25, 2018, of cardiac arrest in Seoul.
100%, under record label TOP Media, has been around since 2012 and had taken a break in 2014 after Bang the Bush, their mini album, when Minwoo went to serve in the military.
The group rejoined to release their third EP in October 2016, with Time Leap. Here is their single Better Day.
They recently had released in February 2017 the Mini album Sketchbook, and their most recent single, in Japanese, was released in February this 2018, Song For You. Here is the Music Video:
100% was underway to revamp their presence in the K-Pop world and were entering the J-Pop sphere as well.
Top Media stated, “His family, the 100% members, and the Top Media artists and staff members are all grief-stricken and in mourning from the unexpected, sad news."
Woo Changbum, Seo's 100% team member, also posted to Instagram his condolences, which translated from Korean say, “May the souls of the deceased refrain. I hope you are comfortable in the sky. I want you to be a bright star and shine this world," according to the NY Daily News.
Andy of Shinhwa produced 100%, and his band Shinhwa has had the longest run in K-Pop, with its 20th anniversary falling the same weekend as Minwoo's death.
100% was set to appear in Japan in April, and there have not yet been any cancelations, but neither did they confirm they would still appear, according to Billboard.
The world of K-Pop has just become a little darker. To note his death is not the only recent one, and while of natural causes, echoes a macabre tone in the world of K-Pop, as we recently reported.
Rest in peace Seo Minwoo, you will surely be missed.
