Late Night host tells fans about the unusual arrival of his new son

Seth Meyers is the proud papa of a new baby boy named Axel Strahl, however, this new edition wanted some extra attention and was born in the lobby of his New York apartment on April 8.

He told his audience on Monday of the 9-1-1 call that took place over the course of around 60 seconds:

"We are about to have a baby. We are having a baby.  We had a baby."

Alexi Ashe, his wife was progressing through labor a bit faster than expected and her midwife said that they were not going to make it to the hospital.

Meyers told his Late Night audience about the drama they had endured when their first child Ashe Olsen came two years ago. They were in a rush then too and he joked that he was almost born in an Uber.

Ashe's midwife was originally optimistic that they would make it to the hospital, but his mother-in-law Joanne rushes into the room while Seth was feeding his older son, saying, "We need to get to the hospital now."

The baby had different ideas.  They were trying to decide whether to take Ashe to the hospital when little Axel pushed his head out of his mother's body and was born right there in the lobby.

Meyers said, "I looked at my wife, and the only way I could describe was she looked like someone who was hiding a baby in a pair of sweatpants," Meyers said laughing.

Meyers quipped that the New York's finest were all on the scene to tend to mom and baby.  They also seemed to keep Meyers calm too.

Meyers was gracious to the many people who helped, including his doorman, NYPD, NYFD, the midwife and especially his wife for giving him another healthy child amidst a lot of chaos.

Axel's middle name is an homage to his wife's grandparents, both Holocaust survivors.

Seth Meyer revealed that wife and sons are reportedly doing well.
