Florence + the Machine announces the release of her new album, High as Hope!
Florence + the Machine have announced the release of a new record and have dropped the first single off the album, "Hunger." High as Hope is set to be released on June 29.
Band leader Florence Welch released a statement regarding the first song released from the album. “This song is about the ways we look for love in things that are perhaps not love, and how attempts to feel less alone can sometimes isolate us more,” the musician said. “I guess I made myself more vulnerable in this song to encourage connection, because perhaps a lot more of us feel this way than we are able to admit."
"Sometimes when you can’t say it, you can sing it.”
High as Hope is the band's fourth studio album, and previously released the single "Sky Full of Song" on April 12. Florence Welch was said to have written, produced and recorded most of the album in solitude.
Jamie xx, Kamasi Washington, Sampha, Kelsey Lu and Tobias Jesso Jr. are featured collaborators on the record.
The band announced that they will be playing six intimate shows in the U.S. and U.K. later this month. They will also be opening for the Rolling Stones in London on May 25.
