The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is one of the most anticipated movies of the year. Catching Fire will be released in the United States on Friday, but the film has already premiered over in Brazil.

Deadline reported that early box office numbers are in for Catching Fire in Brazil. Moviegoers turned out in droves to see the film. The first day box office was $2.4 million and the film opened on 962 screens. That opening for Catching Fire is triple what the first film earned in Brazil.

The Hunger Games made $737,000 in Brazil during its first day.

The Hollywood Reporter added that many believe the sequel could approach $165 million-plus in its opening weekend.

Catching Fire will be opening in the US and 64 other territories that include Canada, UK, Germany and a variety of other countries on Nov. 22nd.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire stars Jennifer Lawrence, Woody Harrelson, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth.
