Just when you think you can relax after a long awards season, the dates for the next ceremonies are being set. The British Academy of Film and Television Arts announced the date for its 2015 EE BAFTA Film Awards, so mark your calendars.
The academy announced that the ceremony will take place on Feb. 8, 2015 at the Royal Opera House in London. The ceremony will air live on the BBC and is taped to be shown that night on BBC America in the U.S.
It is roughly around the same time as this year’s awards. In February, the academy named 12 Years A Slave the best film of 2013 and Gravity was named Best British Film.
Now that the ceremony takes place before the Academy awards in Hollywood, it has become a good predictor of how the Oscars will pan out. Still, there are always some interesting differences. Although 12 Years A Slave won both the BAFTA for Best Film and the Oscar for Best Picture, American Hustle’s Jennifer Lawrence actually beat eventual Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o for Supporting Actress. Writer John Ridley also didn’t win a BAFTA for his adapted screenplay, but did win the Oscar.
Gravity had a better night, winning technical awards and Best Director for Alfonso Cuaron.
