Malaysia Airlines has said that it has lost contact with one of its passenger jets and hasn't been able to reestablish contact. Contact with the jet was lost about four hours before the plane was due to reach its destination.
Taking to Facebook to release a statement, the airline company said that flight MH370 is no longer in contact after initially losing contact with Subang Air Traffic Control.
The passenger jet, a B777-200, was headed from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Beijing, China. The statement said that the flight had 227 passengers, including 12 crewmembers and two infants.
According to BBC News, Malaysia Airlines has announced that it contacted authorities and has begun coordinating with search and rescue teams to find the passenger plane.
The airliner is one of the largest in Asia and the national carrier for Malaysia. On an average day, nearly 37,000 people fly to about 80 different locations worldwide.
