There is just five days to go until Star Wars Day on May 4, so everyone is expecting Disney to finally announce casting for Star Wars: Episode VII. Even though we are so close to that day, new rumors continue to pop up and will likely continue until Sunday.

So, where are we so far? We know that R2-D2 will definitely be featured in the film. J.J. Abrams is definitely directing and he is working with Lawrence Kasdan on the new script after Michael Arndt left. Back in February, the trades reported that Girls’ Adam Driver will be playing a villain.

In January, there was a report from The Hollywood Reporter that Abrams and Kasdan have bigger roles in mind for Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) and Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill). Arndt’s script reportedly gave the Original Trilogy trio nothing more than a cameo, but the Kasdan/Abrams script gives them much more to do. This rumor now has added credibility, since Deadline’s report this week stated that Han’s role is “gigantic.”

Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill have all been seen in London this week. Filming is expected to start and Deadline reports that a table read is scheduled for today.

Driver appears to be the biggest sure-thing when it comes to the new cast. Deadline also suggests that Oscar Isaac (Drive, Inside Llewyn Davis) is also in talks. John Boyega (Attack of the Block) has also been linked. Maisie Richardson-Sellers has been linked as well. This would be her film debut and continues a Star Wars trend of featuring unknowns in major roles.

Obviously, nothing on the casting has been confirmed. As far as we know know, R2-D2 may be the focus of the film and its true star. (I would argue that he’s the most important character in the entire saga, but that’s for another day.) We also know that it’s not going to be adapted from an Expanded Universe story.

Sunday will likely bring some news. But we won’t know the full plot of the film until we see it on Dec. 18, 2015.
