Jane Fonda will be working with fellow two-time Oscar winner Michael Caine for the first time in over three decades in Youth, the next film from Italian director Paolo Sorrentino. The director won an Oscar in March for the acclaimed The Great Beauty.
Youth is set to start filming by the end of the month and Caine joined in March. Pathe International also said that Paul Dano, Rachel Weisz and Harvey Keitel will co-star, reports Deadline.
The film, written by Sorrentino, centers on the relationship between retired composer Fred and still-working film director Mick. They are both nearing 80 and reunite at a hotel in the Alps. It’s still not known which character Caine was cast as.
Caine and Fonda have only worked together twice before and the last time was over 30 years ago. They starred in Hurry Sundown (1968) and California Suite (1978). Both have two Oscar wins to their names.
Fonda has several films in the works and was also cast in a Netflix comedy called Grace & Frankie. She also attended friend Sally Field's Hollywood Walk of Fame Ceremony on Monday.
Sorrentino previously directed Hollywood stars in 2011’s This Must Be The Place with Sean Penn.
