On Tuesday, officials in Saudi Arabia tested a man suspected of having the deadly Ebola virus.

According to the Associated Press, the man, who recently traveled to Sierra Leone, showed up at a hospital in Jiddah with symptoms of the viral hemorrhagic fever. He is being treated in an advanced isolation unit at the hospital.

The Health Ministry said that the patient has already been tested for dengue fever. That test was negative, but given the fact that he returned Sunday from the West African nation, he needed to be tested for Ebola.

The virus has been plaguing the African countries of Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone with almost 900 deaths reported in the past several months.

News of the Saudi man being tested comes one day after a male patient in a New York City hospital was also tested for the disease after displaying Ebola-like symptoms.

However, ABC News has reported that health officials say that patient is not likely to have the virus.

There is no known cure at this time for Ebola, which is spread through human contact. Symptoms of the virus include arthritis, chills, diarrhea, fatigue, fever, headache, nausea, vomiting and internal as well as external bleeding.
