DJ Steve Aoki was at the forefront of electronic music breaking into the mainstream but Aoki had to cancel all upcoming performances. Aoki had to undergo intense surgery to repair his vocal cords. The cancelled performances include
Ibiza, Spain; Wijchen, Netherlands; and Newcastle and Upminster, United Kingdom.
Billboard reported that during his video shoot on Thursday, Aoki explained that he currently had a large nodule on his vocal cords and that the only way to require remove the nodule will be to have invasive surgery.
Aoki took to his social media to explain more details to fans and say why he had to cancel his upcoming performances.
"For the past 20 years, all the screaming at my shows have severely messed up my vocal chords," explained Aoki. "I've prolonged this surgery for quite some time, and the doc said it's now or never. If I don't save my voice, I won't have one soon. I don't have a choice. It has to be done. I'm really trying to cancel the least amount of shows as possible."
News Ok added that Aoki has currently been promoting her latest album Neon Future II which was released earlier this month.
